We were joined by Daniel Zeicher, Minister of State (Department for Environment, Food, and Rural Affairs), who opened along with Alex McIntyre for Gloucester and Simon Opher for Stroud who together made the event possible. Many of you may not know that the Gloucester Services on the M5 are jointly owned by a community organisation called the Gloucestershire Gateway Trust. At Fair Shares we’ve been working with them since the beginning, when they first came up with the idea of the service station. The services isn’t just a great stop on the motorway with amazing food – it was set up to give local people pathways to training and employment and loads of small Gloucestershire farmers and producers the chance to sell their products there.Millions of pounds from the Services also comes back out to support many different charities and community groups in Gloucestershire (including us). It’s been truly amazing to see how business can be done in a new way and make such a huge difference in our communities.
