Our allotment was overflowing with pumpkin guts as we set to work making this years jack o’ lanterns ready for Halloween. Some went for spooky designs, some cute – but all faithfully carved out by the adults, with minimal collateral damage.
Using spoons, specialised tools, and even their hands, our visitors were very determined in removing every bit of innard possible – with some then taking equal pleasure in playing with the squidgy mess.
Our allotment rabbits also made an appearance, acting as quality checkers.
The next week we stayed open a little later for our soup and sparklers evening. We had a choice of 3 soups on offer – with the carrot & coriander being the most popular and running out in no time.
It took slightly longer than we expected for the light to dim down, but when it did we had lots of fun with sparklers.
