Working with CitizensGC

We’ve been working with Team 17, from CitizensGC, to build a sun shelter.

Both Rich and Jon have been joined today and yesterday by Team 17. Team 17 are a part of CitizensGC – or the National Citizens Service. NCS involves teams of 15 – 17 year olds working togehter to embrace the outdoors and learn some new skills they wouldn’t get from the classroom.
To start with they helped Jon build the frame for the sun shelter at our woodworking shed in Chequers Bridge Community Centre. The next day it was transported to a local allotment which would be its new home. With Rich’s supervision, the team then put the finishing touches in place despite the pouring rain.

Thanks to their hard work, wheel chair users can now sit in the shade when tending to their fruit and veg.
